The Chiesa di S. Giovanni Battista was built on the walls of the ancient castle between the 12th and 13th centuries. It has a terracotta gate of the 15th century with an early Christian architrave. The inside has three naves and was frescoed after the second world war with several episodes from the life of St John the Baptist; on the largest altar there are statues of saints Giovanni Battista, Sant’Antonio Abate and S. Filomena. In an alcove to the left, there is the Madonna del Solcato with two paintings: one shows Saint Antonio of Padua (18th century) and the other is an image of saints asking the Madonna for protection of the village (17th century). Until several years ago, there were two tablets of the Crivelli school, from the Church of Santa Maria della Misericordia, depicting the Madonna and Saint Giovanni Evangelista. It is possible that they were part of a tryptich with the depiction of the Crucifix in the middle; they can now be found in a room of the Town Hall, where it is possible to visit them in the mornings. The church of St John the Baptist is of especial interest due to its (irregular) hexagonal tower, built between the 13th and 14th centuries, which was already part of the defence wall of the ancient castle. An interesting early Christian architrave is included in its elegant terracotta craftsmanship. Inside the church, an embossed processional cross by Bartolomeo da Montelparo (1524) and due tablets from the Crivelli school depicting the Madonna with Saint Giovanni can be found.
